Prayer Requests – 17th July 2016

To Consider As You Pray This Week

  • The General Synod of the Church of England has been meeting in York. including shared conversations on Scripture, Mission and Human Sexuality. Pray for God’s Word to be the decisive authority in disputed matters and for local churches like ours to be able to confidently present the biblical gospel with courage and imagination, generosity and joy

  • Cities and communities where people have been attacked and murdered.  Pray for their courage to resist the provocation to hatred and pray for politicians, police and other public servants to have the skill to know how to frustrate and overturn the plans of terrorists. Pray for the bereaved to be supported

  • For God to give patience to all those who are concerned and caring for relatives who are unwell or in hospital

  • People on holiday to enjoy rest from their usual responsibilities and to be refreshed in their relationships with each other as well as Christians having time and space for spiritual renewal

  • Our new political landscape, a new Prime Minister, new appointments to cabinet posts. Pray for God’s hand on them as individuals that they would think carefully about consequences of decisions they are faced with while still grasping all the new information and systems required for their office. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth

  • Please continue to pray for the extremely complex process of changing to one primary school in Riseley. Pray for all senior school staff, the local authority and diocesan officers to find effective ways to work together for the best outcome. For the children and parents not to become fearful for the future
