Prayer Requests – 4th March 2012

Things for you to pray for this week … 

  • a willingness to serve others following the example and command of Christ
  • the first leaders and helpers training session for Holiday Club on Wednesday 7th that all involved will have a shared sense of purpose and confidence in the task ahead. Pray for Martin to teach the teachers clearly in a way that will be enabling for others
  • Keep praying for children and/or their parents to make the decision to apply for Holiday Club, especially during the next week, so that the groups can be appropriately arranged to suit the ages. Give thanks for applications already received
  • for missions  –  recent and current and coming soon  –  at schools, colleges and universities  to be effective in reaching students and for a lasting impact
  • Pray for Karen Jones and the work of Festive supporting Christian Unions.
  • Give thanks for the new leaders (Jonathan and Emily) for the Christian Union at Sharnbrook Upper School, and for the staff who support them
  • the open air service on Ross Meadow 11.30 am Sunday 3rd June to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. To welcome as many from the village as possible and for a good time together afterwards as we share a picnic lunch
  • give thanks for the privilege of being able to meet as Christians without fear of attack. Pray for the work of Open Doors (and other groups) as they seek to support Christians who face persecution and pray for our Christian brothers and sisters to be bold in their witness and to know God’s strength when they face opposition
  • the printing of Bibles in China and that when completed they will be widely distributed and read with understanding, bringing people to repentance and faith and building up the church
  • the government of countries in which there has been protest and conflict. Pray for God to bring to the fore those who have the ability to lead with justice and the skills to establish order and structure following periods of turmoil
  • people with the responsibility of rebuilding and reorganising cities and infrastructure in places affected by earthquakes, floods and other upheavals, including Christchurch in New Zealand, Japan
  • Richard Slater having a hip operation on Tuesday. For all who are coping with ill health and those anticipating treatment
  • all who have been bereaved
  • the staff and governors preparing for an RE inspection of the lower school
  • the next Bishop of Bedford Richard Atkinson
