Prayer Requests – 8th January 2012

Things for you to pray for this week …
• give thanks for the number of people who attended Christmas services, pray that the message of good news would make a lasting change to people’s lives. Pray for those who are intrigued to have courage to take the next step and learn more through Christianity Explored or one to one meetings with a Christian friend.
• the PCC as we develop the mission of our church in line with the Living God’s Love initiative from the Bishop of St Albans; Going deeper into God, Transforming communities, Making new disciples.
• give thanks that the Holiday Club “Champions!” is progressing well in planning and pray for young people to respond to the leaflets that will begin to be distributed at the end of January. Pray also for the core team of Sally Eddon, Katy Carter, Nicky Bailey and Martin Bailey to work together effectively as the wider team is built up.
• the lower school new entrance is complete and the Bishop of Bedford will take part in an opening and dedication service on 18th January. Please pray for a clear and positive occasion which reflects our strong Christian ethos. Remember all the staff in their important and demanding work and especially David Dyson as he leads them.
• the leaders , teachers and helpers of our young people’s work to be prayerful and to find time to prepare well so that the children learn and understand what God says in the Bible. Pray for new leaders to strengthen the teams and for Jo Nicholls coordinating Sunday groups.
• the local groups planning and preparing to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at the beginning of June and for the church to play its part willingly and effectively
• all who have recently been bereaved, including Anne Osborne, Jo Nicholls’ family following the funeral of Irene Short (Jo’s Grandmother) last Thursday, the family of Claire Powell-Corbett whose funeral is here tomorrow morning
• Peggy Ridley and family of Dick Ridley, Kings Close whose funeral will be here on 23rd Jan Benny Wright, Edward Bean and others; for stamina during lengthy courses of treatment.
• Doris Neale in residential care in Bedford
• Phyllis Whitmore in hospital in Bedford
• for Dian McDonald-Smith undergoing surgery tomorrow at Addenbrookes and for her recovery
• all who are anxious for family members facing challenges, decisions or health issues to be able to entrust those they care for into God’s hands and to be a Christian support for them
• Christians as they witness in the troubled places of the world such as South Sudan, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, the countries of the Arab Spring and for political, administrative and military leaders to both show and work for a peace and stability which respects individual conscience
