Prayer Requests – 15th May 2011

Things for you to pray for this week …

  •  today, pray for James and the Tennant family at Sharnbrook Evangelical Church as he preaches and they say their farewells. Pray our service next week would be an encouraging one for them all.
  • give thanks that the Tennants have found a house to live in just over a mile from the church in Saltisford and pray for the practicalities of moving house in a few weeks
  • give thanks to God for speaking to us by giving us the Bible and for all those who have worked to translate it, publish it and distribute it around the world.
  • pray for the work of Church Society to continue effectively as David Phillips prepares to leave in a couple of months and for David (our preacher today) as he prepares for parish ministry in Chorley.
  • people returning to work or beginning new jobs; Jonathan White, and Hannah Foster
  • all who have been bereaved to adjust to their new circumstance, to reflect upon their own lives and to come to know God more deeply. Pray for their comfort. Remember the families of Arthur Wilson, Paula Watson, Barbara Strickland
  • all who are preparing for weddings particularly remembering Trish and Mark and Katie and Adam (Bletsoe) next Saturday. For all couples to look beyond one another to God as the designer of marriage.
  • pupils and students feeling the pressure of exams (and parents) to keep a godly perspective
  • give thanks for all who have been elected to represent others; the Mayor of Bedford, Councillors and Parish Councillors and pray for each one to have a strong sense of privilege so that they will be careful to promote what is helpful for those they serve.
  • for victims of crime to know that justice ultimately rests in God’s hands and to find a way to rebuild their confidence. Pray also for law enforcement professionals to be successful in preventing crime as well bringing criminals to conviction
  • the countries across the North of Africa and the Middle East where there has been protest for change and violence in response. Pray for breakthroughs in negotiations or changes of heart among leaders on both sides so that positive peace can be established
